Antonito, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, departed this world on August 21, 2025, at the age of seventy-eight, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will resonate throughout the heartstrings of her family and friends. Born on January 8, 1947, in Ft. Defiance, Arizona, she embraced life with an unwavering spirit that shone brightly in everything she touched.
A loving soul, Carolyne was known for her directness and practicality, qualities that shaped her remarkable skills in cooking, weaving, and sewing. Her hands, skilled and steady, crafted not only garments but also the very fabric of family life. She delighted in passing down these handmade traditions, always guiding her daughters – Thelma Antonito, Beverly Begay, and Rhonda Valdez – as well as her grandchildren – Jeremiah, Brandon, Dadrian, Isaiah, Keenan, Brianna, Matthew, Mariah, Mario Jr., Cierra, and one great-grandchild, Yaniah Begay – with stories steeped in wisdom and love. With every stitch and every dish, she planted seeds of aspiration, urging all to strive for their dreams.
Carolyne's education was punctuated by her devotion to family, often caring for her dear Nali's while cultivating her love for reading and crossword puzzles. Her inquisitive mind was ever curious, reflecting a life steeped in learning and growth. She found solace and inspiration in nature, where her green thumb flourished. Morning glories, hollyhocks, and sunflowers brightened her beautiful garden, serving as a testament to her nurturing spirit and deep appreciation for the world around her.
Her personality blossomed through genuine connections; she never failed to greet passersby with a warm "Hello." Carolyne had a remarkable ability to forge bonds with everyone she encountered, sharing prayers and thoughts for her cousins and relatives, whose names were etched in her heart. In her simple yet profound way of living, she exemplified the beauty of kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to be included in her life, animals and nature alike.
Nature was her sanctuary, and animals held a special place within it. Carolyne's affection for all living creatures illustrated a profound respect for the harmony of life. Her legacy is one of compassion, evidenced not only in her everyday interactions but echoing through the memories of the beloved who predeceased her. She mourned the loss of her parents, Frank and Clara Antonito, as well as her daughters, Coresa Jean Antonito and Rolene Valdez, and grandsons, Anthony Begay, and twins Joaquin and Michael Means, cherished souls now reunited with her.
As we gather to remember Carolyne and celebrate her life, we invite all who were touched by her spirit to join us for her funeral service on August 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Bloomfield, NM. Following the service, her earthly remains will be laid to rest at East Hammond Cemetery at 12:15 PM, where her loving spirit will find eternal peace.
