Leroy L. Valdez

On Monday, February 9, 2026, Lord called Leroy, our beloved husband, father, Papa, brother and uncle, to his heavenly home.

Leroy was born on March 3, 1947, in Blanco Canyon, NM to Sam and Esther P. Valdez.

Leroy is survived by his wife Ruth Paul; children Genevieve Valdez and Fernando Valdez; grand-daughter Khyra Begay; brothers Ramses (Bessie) Valdez, Murphy Valdez; sisters Anna Valdez, Esther (Jerry) Napie, Phyllis (Larry) Dixon, Elaine Valdez, and Elvira (Randy) Harvey.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Esther P. Valdez; sister and brother-in-law Florence and Harvey Betselie; brothers Santo Valdez, Keroy Valdez, Larry Valdez, Murray Valdez, Floyd Valdez and Lawrence Valdez; nephew Cody Dixon and nieces Desiree Valdez and Stephanie Valdez.

Leroy attended Blanco Elementary School and Ignacio High School. He also completed one year of college in California. He entered the draft and served in the Army from November 8, 1967, to November 21, 1969. One year he served stateside and one year he was deployed overseas.

Funeral service will be held on 10:00 am Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Bloomfield, New Mexico. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Farmington, New Mexico. Reception will be held at World Harvest Center, Farmington, NM.
