In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Mother, Matilda Slim- Yazzie
Our beloved mother, Matilda Slim-Yazzie, was truly one of a kind. She was a loving, caring, and hardworking woman whose kindness touched the lives of so many. She had a heart full of love and always put her family first. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering support will forever remain in our hearts.
Matilda Slim -Yazzie was raised in Red Mesa, Arizona, and Yellow Rock Point, Utah. She was 58 years old and was the cherished daughter of the late Watson Slim Sr. and Marilyn Slim. She was also blessed with seven siblings, with whom she shared many treasured memories.
She was the proud mother of nine children. In 2022, she endured the heartbreaking loss of two of her beloved children, Leighton Begaye and Natasha Hot. Even through such profound sorrow, she remained strong and continued to love and care for her family with unwavering devotion.
Matilda was married to Jerome Yazzie for 18 years. Through every hardship and every blessing, they stood by each other’s side, sharing a bond built on love, commitment, and perseverance.
She was also the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren, with one precious grandchild on the way. Her children and grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and they brought endless happiness to her heart. She especially loved making and sharing food, creating sweet memories that her family will always cherish.
Her kindness, generosity, and beautiful spirit touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the memories she gave us and the love she leaves behind.
Funeral Services
The funeral service for Matilda Yazzie will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at 10:00 a.m. at Word of Life Christian Center. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Though she is no longer with us, our mother’s love will remain in our hearts forever. We will honor her memory by carrying forward the kindness, strength, and love she shared with all of us.
