Michael Toledo, a cherished self-taught artist, was born on September 7, 1966, in Shiprock, New Mexico. With over 30 years dedicated to his craft, he developed a profound passion for sculpting, allowing his creative spirit to flourish. Michael's artistic journey was complemented by his free-spirited nature, as he welcomed family and friends into his home, often offering solace and guidance through his many stories and teachings about life.
Michael passed away on August 3, 2025, in Durango, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Toledo, as well as his sons: Matthew, Kyle, and Mikah Toledo. He also leaves behind his daughter, Shenoah Toledo, and grandchildren Jalik, Eric, Natanuel, and Carmine Toledo.
Michael's zest for life was evident in his love for the outdoors. He cherished camping and fishing, creating vibrant memories filled with warmth and laughter. Mornings at the campsite were made special by Michael, who would offer coffee to everyone, sharing not just a drink but also a sense of community. He found joy in rock climbing with his sons and had a unique connection with nature, often digging for rocks to enhance his sculptures.
Preceding him in death are his mother, Helen Toledo, father, Truman Toledo, and two sons, Brandon and Jordan Toledo. Each of them holds a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved Michael.
Michael's funeral service will be held on August 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Open Bible Baptist Church in Waterflow, New Mexico. He will be remembered not only for his artistic talents but also for the father figure he was to many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
